I think my wife would agree with me when I say that the holiday season is a very stressful time of the year. While I absolutely love getting to spend time with all of the members of my family, that doesn’t change the fact that being asked to attend a countless number of holiday events and parties in such a short amount of time is a little overwhelming. The reason that I know my wife would agree with me about the holidays being stressful is that while I was only ever obligated to simply show up to these events, my wife had to serve as the hostess for the biggest holiday event of all, which was our Christmas Day celebration.

Since I know we were both on edge after the holiday season came to an end, I did something fairly spontaneous. I tracked down a reasonably priced travel package to Mexico (which was made up of our flight, hotel and rental car), and surprised my wife by telling her we were taking off almost immediately to go relax in Mexico for five days. Our trip was a great time, and I know that we both felt much better when we got back after having this relaxing experience.
